'Una Donna Sevillana'
Oil on linen.
100 × 75 cm (Inset with an Oval crop)
I was inspired by this idea after a trip to Seville, Spain. The colour harmonies of red and black were predominant in the traditional flamenco costumes of the dancers that we saw there. Lisa, a fellow dancer here in Florence( having lived in Spain) for a few years was the perfect muse for this inspiration. I found her profile really captivating, and thought that the oval crop helped best emphasise the composition. I hoped to capture her flair, elegance and femininity through this portrait.
